This autumn scene viewed "up close" looked like a simple abstract of colors. But when I stepped back, the imagery of the road and trees popped from the canvas. It was a breakthrough of sorts for me, from more realistic to more expressionistic.
Artists working together simultaneously is highly unconventional, or outre. That was how the name Outre Art came to be. Two artists with different styles and subject matter interests collaborated in pastel to create a new style. We wanted viewers to look at subject matter differently and encourage them to look at everyday objects with a new eye. We are no longer working together, but I continue to pursue my art and keep our collaborative images available for sale. Creating landscapes that express my emotional attachment to a place is just part of who I am. That creativity spills over into the rest of my work and the unique one of a kind jewelry is the result.
